Hoag Earns Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association for Commitment to Excellence in Heart Failure Care

    July 17, 2026 · 3 min read

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (July 17, 2026) — Hoag has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® - Heart Failure Gold Plus quality achievement award for its ongoing commitment to improving outcomes for people with heart failure, including shortening hospital stays and increasing access to top-quality care.

This award further cements Hoag’s status as a leading heart failure care center in Orange County and nationwide. Hoag’s multidisciplinary team brings together cardiology, advanced heart failure specialists, and coordinated support services to guide patients through every stage of healing with the highest quality of care.

“At Hoag, we recognize that heart failure is not a single event or a predictable journey… it is a condition that can reshape a patient’s life and lives of everyone who loves them,” says Dr. Howie Tran, Medical Director of the Advanced Heart Failure Program at Hoag. “The diagnosis of heart failure should never be mistaken for the end of a patient's story. With early recognition, evidence-based treatment and a team united around each individual, we can change the trajectory of this disease. This Gold Plus recognition reflects our commitment to meeting patients wherever they are in their journey—from medical optimization and close monitoring to advanced therapies and lifelong support—and helping them move forward with greater strength, hope and possibility.”

Each year, participating hospitals qualify for award recognition by demonstrating sustained performance in delivering quality care for patients with heart failure. In addition to following clinical treatment guidelines, Get With The Guidelines participants provide patients with education and tools to help them manage their condition at home.

Hoag is also recognized on the American Heart Association’s Target: Heart FailureSM Optimal. Hospitals receiving this award meet specific criteria that improve medication adherence, provide early follow-up care and coordination, enhance patient education, and performed 50% or better for defect-free care.

Hoag also received the American Heart Association’s Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll™ award, meaning the organization ensures patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to heart disease or stroke.
